Hey there! I am Sonali Pal, pursuing PhD in Biotechnology from Amity University, Gurugram, Haryana.
Science has always mesmerized me not just in books but beyond the walls of the classroom. What I love most about science, is the fact that answers can be explained with varying amounts of details. For instance, kids can ask “Why is the sky blue?”, and get a response they can understand. However, there is a more scholarly explanation for it. In the last few years, the flow of information has gained a fresh impetus in the way it is propagated and valued to the public, often compromising the ease of understanding, quality and reliability of the source. So, a stronger fusion of public and scientific values will enlighten the public with a sound understanding of the ongoing research which they assume to be a jigsaw and its relevance to society. This will greatly help individuals be independent, logical and critical thinkers.
My interest in science communication sparkled at NGSF. In my opinion, as a researcher, it should be our first and foremost responsibility to convey information lucidly and coherently to the public and push to make science consistently open and accessible to all. Being from a biological sciences background, my articles would be inclined towards the basic aspects of biology including oncology, novel tools and techniques, genomics and virology etc. In my article, I will try to disseminate information cohesively in a concise manner.
