Q. What do you study and where?
Nahida: I’m a 4th-year BS-MS Biology major at IISER Mohali.
Q. Who was your PI and what was your host institute?
Nahida: My PI was Dr. Arun Sasidharan at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore.
Q. What was your Internship project work?
Nahida: My internship project focused on comparing different connectivity measures to distinguish between rest and task conditions.

Q.How did you enjoy working on the Internship Project?
Nahida: I thoroughly enjoyed working on the internship project at NIMHANS, especially since it was my second internship there. The lab felt like a supportive and welcoming space, where my PI, PhD members, and fellow interns were always available to help, making it feel like home. It was a true growth environment, with everyone encouraging one another and offering assistance. The lab meetings were incredibly insightful, providing valuable feedback and new perspectives to improve our study.

Q. How was your experience attending NGS Internship Program?
Nahida: The funding support from the foundation allowed me to focus fully on the research without financial concerns, and the program’s emphasis on enhancing scientific competitiveness broadened my perspective. The presentation at the end provided an excellent opportunity to learn about others’ work and share my own, fostering a collaborative environment. Additionally, the application process for funding was straightforward and smooth, making the entire experience stress-free and accessible.

Nahida: Absolutely! I would highly recommend the NGS Internship Program to fellow students. It’s a highly rewarding experience, offering the chance to work on meaningful research with full funding support, allowing you to focus entirely on your project. The program fosters a collaborative environment, and the final presentations are a fantastic opportunity to learn from others and share your work. Plus, the application process is simple and accessible, making it easy to apply.
Q. How was the city you moved in? Did you face issues?
Nahida: Bangalore was nothing short of perfect. The weather was always pleasant, which made everything more enjoyable. The metro made transportation convenient, so I didn’t face any issues getting around. Overall, my experience was amazing—I loved exploring different foods and visiting various places, making my stay truly memorable.
