From mastering high-tech instruments to late-night lab adventures, my internship at NIPER-R was an exhilarating journey.

Q. What do you study and where?
Shivam: I am a Final Year undergraduate student pursuing B.Pharmacy from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, Punjab.
Q.Who was your PI and what was your host institute?
Shivam: I worked under the able mentorship and guidance of Dr. Keerti Jain at Department of Pharmaceutics, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER-R), Raebareli.

Q. What was your Internship project work?
Shivam: My internship project focused on developing ‘Bioflavonoid Loaded Nanovesicles for Migraine Management.’ I formulated and optimized nanovesicles to harness the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of bioflavonoids. This involved selecting optimal lipid compositions and surfactants, evaluating physicochemical properties, and fine-tuning parameters to enhance drug delivery and efficacy. The project was a blend of scientific inquiry and innovation, aiming to create a novel therapeutic approach for migraines.
Q.How did you enjoy working on the Internship Project?
Shivam: Working on the internship project was immensely enjoyable and enriching. I delved into pharmaceutical innovation, mastering sophisticated instruments like Dynamic Light Scattering and UV-Visible Spectroscopy. Collaborating with fellow interns and researchers fostered camaraderie, and the vibrant atmosphere of NIPER-Raebareli added excitement. Even late-night lab sessions felt like adventures. Overall, it was a holistic journey of self-discovery and friendship that left a lasting impact.

Q. How was your experience attending the NGS Internship Program?
Shivam: The NGS Internship Program at NIPER-Raebareli was a thrilling journey into the realm of scientific discovery. Under Dr. Keerti Jain’s mentorship, I tackled challenges in chromatography and spectroscopy, pushing boundaries in experimentation. Collaboration with fellow interns and researchers fostered a sense of camaraderie, enriching the experience. This internship not only expanded my technical skills but also ignited a passion for pushing the boundaries of knowledge.
Q. How was the city you moved in? Did you face issues?
Shivam: Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, welcomed me with open arms during my time at the transit campus of NIPER-Raebareli. Its rich cultural tapestry and vibrant atmosphere captivated me from the start. Exploring Lucknow’s renowned culinary scene was a delight, with each meal offering a new adventure in taste. Overall, my experience in Lucknow was magical, providing the perfect backdrop for an enriching and memorable internship journey.
Q. Would you recommend your fellow students to apply to NGS Internship Program?
Shivam: The NGS Internship Program is unparalleled, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow students. The financial support, including a monthly stipend and coverage of travel expenses, removes financial barriers and allows full focus on research. Working under a mentor from a different institute enriches learning and networking opportunities.
